Saku Ishino was born in Sparks, Nevada on May 25, 1916 to Kyutaro and Ura Ishino. She was raised in Miho, Shizuoka, Japan.

Saku passed away on May 31, 2000 of complications due to aging.In August 1932, she returned to the U.S. as a picture bride to marry Kinzo Nagasawa. They settled in Salt Lake City and established the Sunrise Fish Market while raising their family: Iwao deceased (Mutsuko), Takashi, Yeiko (Ted), Isamu (Jeanne), Eddie and Rose (Mike).

Kinzo passed away in 1954 and Saku married Gene S. Suzuki in 1958. Gene passed away in 1988. During a period of 60 years she and her family operated the Sunrise Fish Market, Mihoya Confectionery and Sunrise Restaurant where she met and made many life long friends. Saku enjoyed haiku poetry, flowers and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Mon, June 5, 2000 at Garner Funeral Home, 1001 11th Avenue in Salt Lake City, Utah. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 6-8 p.m.
