Zions Bank president Scott Anderson lends a hand painting the House of Hope Residence Center as the bank launched its 10th annual Paint-a-Thon Monday night.
The charity event rungs through June 24 in communities throughout Utah and Idaho. More than 2,000 Zions Bank employee volunteers are scheduled to scrape, prep and paint 45 homes in this year's Zions Bank Paint-a-Thon.
As a part of this year's project, a team of Zions Bank employee volunteers are painting and making minor repairs to the Utah Alcoholism Foundation's (UAF) House of Hope, located at 209 Douglas Street. The House of Hope Residence Center is home to the UAF's Mother's and Children's program. The residence center opened in 1992 as one of the first of its kind in the nation.
As a nonprofit voluntary sector organization, UAF provides prevention, education and treatment services to both rural and urban areas of Utah. Services provided are target toward those with alcoholism and drug dependencies and related health problems.
Anderson said that over the past nine years, Zions employees have painted 288 homes and donated tens of thousands of hours to benefit needy homeowners, making the Paint-a-Thon the largest single-employer event of its kind in Utah.
