Helen Alice Mitchell passed away June 26, 2000 at St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT, of heart failure.

She was born in Kansas City, Missouri March 30, 1925. Her mother died when she was three years old. Her mother's sister, Aunt Lillian Barnes, raised her during the school years in Nebraska and then spent the summers with her father in Kansas on a farm. The family then moved to Seattle, Washington when she was 16 years old. There she met a young man by the name of Wesley A. Mitchell. They married soon after and enjoyed an 11-year marriage, until his death in 1952. Helen spent the rest of her life raising her children in the LDS Church. She was a current resident and choir member of Highland Cove Retirement Center. She loved her children and singing and the simple things of life. She loved riding her bike and gave it up at the age of 70.

Survivors are children: JoAnn Poulsen, Sunset, UT, Jannette Barker, Portland, OR, Judy Babcock, Salt Lake City, UT and Ike Clark, Salt Lake City, UT; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by mother, Alice Jewell; father, William Warnock; husband, Wesley A. Mitchell; daughter, Vicki Lee and brother, David Warnock

Funeral services will be held Sat., July 1 at 12 noon at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 So. Highland Drive, where friends may call from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, Rest Haven Park Section.
