A yellow three-day-old duckling peeks over the top of a stone wall at Lake Spring Park in Salem, Va., to join its siblings after their mother dove into the water, Tuesday, June 6, 2000. The yellow duckling finally made it to the top of the wall after two failed attempts, and the ducklings joined their mother in the pond. It's not uncommon to have different colored duckings from the same brood. In adulthood, they will all have the same plumage.
