POINT OF THE MOUNTAIN -- Two people were injured Wednesday morning when they hit each other while paragliding.

Rebecca Harkness, 19, and Scott Franklin, 34, were paragliding at Point of the Mountain Wednesday morning when their paragliders -- which are made out of soft canvas -- hit one another, causing both to fall 50 feet to the ground, Salt Lake County sheriff's deputy Peggy Faulkner said. Franklin, an experienced paraglider, had been in the air for some time when Harkness, who was paragliding for the first time, ran into him.Franklin suffered two broken legs and Harkness had two broken ankles. Both initially were taken to American Fork Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition. Franklin was scheduled to be transported to University Hospital and Harkness to LDS Hospital later Wednesday.

"They'll be OK. A little sore, but OK," Faulkner said.
