Chessa Renee Christensen Peterson, 22, of Salt Lake City, Utah, died July 7, 2000, from injuries sustained in a car accident near Burley, ID.

Chessa's life will be celebrated with services to be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at the Caldwell Stake Center, 3015 So. Kimball Avenue, Caldwell, under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Chessa's family will receive friends from 10:30-11:15 a.m.

Tuesday and the family will greet friends and family 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Caldwell Stake Center. There will also be a memorial service in Salt Lake City at the Taylorsville LDS 11th Ward building, 1495 W. Tamarack Road (approximately 1495 W 4400 S), 7 p.m. Wed. July 12, 2000.

Chessa was born May 9, 1978, at Caldwell to Milt and Kathy Christensen. She received her education in Caldwell, graduating from Caldwell High School in 1996. She then attended Ricks College, earning an Associates Degree. At the time of her passing, she was pursuing a degree in Human Resources at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City. She was employed by UPS as a training supervisor.

On January 10, 1998, Chessa married Nathan Peterson of Idaho Falls. They were married in the Boise Idaho LDS Temple.

Chessa was a ball of energy. She played volleyball, softball, soccer, and ran track. She also played trumpet in the school band for six years. She was the CHS mascot for two years, exhibiting her early gymnastic training with cartwheels and flips while wearing a really big Cougar head. She sang in the Women's Chorus at Ricks.

Chessa will be remembered for her continuous smile and the brightness and sweetness of her spirit. She loved people and bounced through life spreading cheer and friendship.

Chessa is survived by her husband, Nathan; her parents; a younger brother, Quinn; her in-laws, Philip and DeAnn Peterson, Idaho Falls; three sisters-in-law and their husbands; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Dell and Emily Christensen; her maternal grandparents, Tom and Claudia Hill; and her older brother, Tyler Christensen.
