PHOENIX (AP) — An Army National Guard helicopter with two soldiers aboard crashed in the desert during night exercises. It wasn't immediately known whether the soldiers were injured or killed.

The AH-64 Apache helicopter crashed on the Barry M. Goldwater Range about 40 miles southwest of Phoenix at about 8 p.m. Monday, National Guard Capt. Eileen Bienz said. The cause of the crash was unknown.

The soldiers' names were being withheld until relatives were notified, Bienz said.

The helicopter had been based out of the Army National Guard facility in Marana, near Tucson.
