MAGNA — Salt Lake County investigators are still trying to figure out why someone apparently kept potentially dangerous grenades in a garage.
A grenade found and dissembled Tuesday at 3535 S. 8000 West is the second incident in which fire and police crews had to respond, said Salt Lake Sheriff Lt. Rod Norton.
"There's a history at the address where we had a similar experience about a year ago with a grenade that was found there," Norton said.
Tuesday afternoon, police received a call from a man cleaning the home's garage, who said he had "come across what looked like a grenade," Norton said.
The man took the grenade to a field behind the house, Norton said. After firefighters identified it as a grenade, police secured the field so the device could be dissembled. No one in the neighborhood was evacuated.
