FARMINGTON — A man was killed Monday evening by a train while apparently crossing the tracks in an unauthorized area.
Police received at call at 7:19 p.m. that a man had been struck by a train and was believed to have died instantly.
Police don't know why the 38-year-old was on the tracks, 300 to 400 yards south of the State Street overpass, Farmington Police officer Dale Scow said. The tracks are bordered by large fences on both sides.
Although the man carried no identification, police determined his identity but have not released it pending notification of family.
