BEAVER DAM, Box Elder County — A 24-year-old man drowned Thursday in a canal west of Cutler Dam.

The man was swimming with friends when he went under and never resurfaced, according to a Box Elder County Sheriff's Office news release.

Dispatchers received the drowning call at 4:15 p.m. and officials recovered the man's body at 9:30 p.m., according to the release.

Authorities have not released the man's name, pending notification of relatives. The man is believed to be from out of state but had also been working in Logan, sheriff's officials say.
