Volunteers are needed for an upcoming Pioneer Day Celebration featuring games and activities on Monday, July 24. Provo will hold its annual Pioneer Day celebration at North Park, 500 North and 500 West from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Water activities will be available until 6 p.m.

The celebration will feature a wide variety of activities, arts and crafts, entertainment and concession booths. A number of these activities need individuals or small groups of volunteers to assist. Volunteers are needed to help with miniature horse and buggy rides, old-time pioneer games and helping children assemble old-fashioned spinning toys.

Other volunteer opportunities in Utah County include the following:Volunteer with foster children. The Foster Care Foundation is looking for volunteers for its program, including being a foster friend, tutoring and mentoring a foster child, providing relief care for foster parents, working with caseworkers and helping with one-time events. Anyone over the age of 18 can volunteer with the foundation. Foster parents must be at least 21 years old and may be either single or legally married.

Help children celebrate the arts. Approximately 300 volunteers are needed Saturday, July 15, to help with the annual Children's Celebration of the Arts at Provo's Pioneer Park, 500 North and 500 West. Volunteers are needed in three shifts from 9 a.m. to noon, noon to 3 p.m., and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., with 100 volunteers needed per shift.

Beautify your community. The Orem public works department is looking for volunteers willing to improve and maintain local public parks.

Opportunities available include spreading bark around trees, repairing and painting park benches and helping to groom sections of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. Both small and large groups are needed.
