LAYTON — The city's west side will see 54 new townhouses in the near future when Legacy Village is developed at 1150 W. 1000 North.
The land, west of the old Questar building and south of Gordon Avenue, has been proposed for several different developments in the past five years. The City Council approved the latest revision to the land at its July 6 meeting when the 54 townhouses, in place of 48 apartments units, were proposed.
More than four years ago, single-family homes were proposed on the property, but they were never built.
According to City Manager Alex Jensen, area residents had concerns about the new development, including increased traffic and lower water pressure.
Gordon Avenue, from Main Street to 2500 West, will be reconstructed next spring in a $350,000 city road project. Jensen said water pressure in the area will also improve dramatically next summer when the new waterline from the Clearfield High water reservoir reaches west Gordon Avenue.
