Sixty billion dollars for a missile defense system is just a drop in the bucket. Too bad they keep missing the bucket.
In the latest test, missile A was launched from California, headed west. Missile B, launched in the Pacific and headed east, was to hit missile A but missed. The word went out on the West Coast: "Duck and cover."
The technology is compared to hitting a bullet with a bullet. As opposed to a bull with a bass fiddle. And a Chinese embassy in Belgrade with a bomb.
The future of the missile defense program may be passed on to the next president, perhaps George W. Bush, on the theory that it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the problem.
