SHARE Utah schools claim medals at leadership championships

Salt Lake Community College has won the post-secondary gold medal in opening and closing ceremonies at the national SkillsUSA-VICA 36th annual leadership conference and championships in Kansas City, Mo.

West Jordan High School received a secondary silver medal in opening and closing ceremonies.

A Dixie College team placed second in the post-secondary Quiz Bowl division.

SLCC also received the post-secondary bronze medal in 3D visualization and animation; West Jordan High received the secondary bronze medal in the Quiz Bowl; and Alta High School won the secondary bronze medal in chapter business procedure.

Michael Rogers of West Jordan High won the secondary silver medal in related technical math; Mark Bates of Dixie won the post-secondary silver medal in graphic communications; Rachelle Redford of Hillcrest High won the secondary bronze medal in health occupations professional portfolio; Amanda Cannon of Salt Lake Community College won the post-secondary gold medal in nail care; and Benjamin Downey of Davis Applied Tech Center won the secondary bronze medal in culinary arts.

SkillsUSA-VICA is a national organization for students studying trade, industrial, technical and health occupations.
