Lena Bertha Sorenson Pehrson, 88 , passed away Sunday, July 16, 2000, Salt Lake City, of natural causes.

Lena was born May 9, 1912, to Heber and Mabel Stout Sorenson in Leamington, Ut. She married Hugh Argyle Pehrson May 16, 1932 in the Salt Lake Temple. They have five children.

Active in the LDS church serving many years in the Relief Society in every capacity in ward and stake levels, warD and stake librarian, and in many other teaching and executive positions over the years. Her life centered around her family. She loved to entertain in her home and her talents in both cooking food and decorating her tables were enjoyed by many. She was never idle in mind or body. She loved to garden and make her home beautiful, and was an avid reader and quilter.

Her happiness was about love and service to her family and to others. She was endlessly willing to help wherever she could. We, her family, will remember her with great love and heartfelt gratitude for her life.

Hugh and Lena were married 68 years on May 16, 2000. She is survived by her husband and five children: Deryl (Brenda), Pensacola, Fl; Patricia Ann (Calvin) Peterson, Highland, Ut; Judith (David) Tayler, Bountiful, Ut; H. Gary (Julia), Kaysville, Ut; and Eric John (Doreen), Sandy, Ut.

There are 24 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She has one living brother, Lynn Elmer Sorenson and four sisters: Ruby Whitehead, Ina Nugent, Violet Thomas,, and Carol Cran. Preceded in death by her parents and her brother Orvil and Hosea.

A viewing will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2000 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2000 at 12 noon, at East Millcreek 12th Ward Chapel, 3103 E. Craig Dr. (3640 So.) where friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, Salt Lake City, Ut.
