Randy G. Hatch, of Thatcher, Box Elder County, goes flying in the bull-riding competition Monday at the Days of '47 Rodeo. The rodeo, which kicked off Monday night at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City and runs through July 24, is one of the top rodeos in the country, says Brad Harmon, Days of '47 Rodeo chairman. The bull-riding competition was won by rookie Coby Wheeldon, of Jackson Hole, Wyo. In other events, Randy Suhn, North Glenn, Colo., won steer wrestling; Todd Loesch of Fort Worth, Texas, was tops in calf roping; and Tona Wright of Moriarty, N.M., finished first in girls' barrel racing. Jess Martin of Dillon, Mont., won in saddle bronc riding. See story Page D3.
