WELLSVILLE, Utah-- Edith Smith Maughan, 80, passed away Friday, July 14, 2000, at her Wellsville home.
She was born November 26, 1919, to Ora Kilfoyle and Carrie Larsen Smith in Wellsville, the third of six children. She attended public schools in Wellsville and graduated from South Cache High School in 1937. She was employed at the Wellsville Post Office for 17 years.
She married Lyman P. Maughan in the Logan Temple on May 15, 1940. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They are the parents of seven children, Laurel Maughan, Corvallis, OR, Marsha (deceased) and (Terry) Adams, Stuart (Marilyn) Maughan, Wellsville, Vickie (Scott) Orme, Douglasville, GA, Leslee (Mark) Wessel, Pinetop, AZ, Curtis (Maxine) Maughan and Jarvis (Nancy) Maughan, both of Wellsville. She has 24 grandchildren and one great-grandchild in whom she found much joy. She is survived by her husband Lyman, six of their seven children, her sister, Marie Gunnell, and brother, George Smith. Her daughter, Marsha, sisters, Margaret and Donna, and brother, Louis, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, July 20, at the Wellsville 5th Ward Chapel, 660 S. 100 W., Wellsville, UT. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St., Logan, UT, and from 10:30-11:45 a.m. on Thursday at the church prior to the service.
