Sharon Stone, an outspoken advocate for the Tibetan cause, appeared onstage with the Dalai Lama after the dedication of a rare Tibetan mandala.

"It is the goal of this mandala to bring peace to the hearts of the worldwide community," Stone said to an audience of more than 1,000 who gathered at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles on Thursday to see the mandala and hear the teachings of the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader.

Created by artist Pema Namdol Thaye, the mandala is a work that represents a Tibetan art form said to be nearly extinct. The piece is still a work in progress and should be completed in October.
