Ramps connecting I-80 and I-215 northbound and southbound were closed Wednesday for almost 12 hours after a truck hauling meat tipped over near the mouth of Parleys Canyon.
The ramps were closed from 3 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. as the Utah Department of Transportation's Incident Management team and the Utah Highway Patrol cleared the scene, said Amanda Covington, a UDOT spokeswoman.
The truck was carrying large slabs of meat on hooks. The tipover caused the meat to fall to one side and had to be removed before the truck could be turned upright, Covington said.
Only a small amount of meat spilled onto the road, and the rest was temporarily removed until the truck was turned upright. The truck driver was not injured, Covington said.
