Silver King Media Group plans to publish a direct-mail newspaper for the downtown Avenues district and nearby neighborhoods under the name AveNews starting in the fall.

The initial circulation is expected to be 15,000 and will be sent through the U.S. Postal Service. The paper also will be distributed on newsstands at a cost of 50 cents per paper. It will consist of a tabloid format similar to its sister publication, the Voice, which circulates in south Salt Lake County.

Silver King Media also owns the Courier, which media group officials say has the largest circulation (7,000) and subscription (3,400) in Wasatch County. The company also plans to start the 8,000-circulation Park City News in the fall.

"Silver King Media Group intends to positively impact the communication flow in this specific downtown area. The Avenues area is one of the last great cohesive neighborhoods left that I know of," Michael Kearns, Silver King CEO and president, said in a prepared statement. "AveNews will play a big part in our core news group and our Intermountain Investment strategy."
