ROSWELL, Georgia — With the Roswell Georgia Stake Center filled to capacity July 9, baseball legend Dale Murphy shared missionary experiences from his three years as president of the Boston Massachusetts Mission.

The numbers in attendance at the fireside caught even the most optimistic stake leaders off-guard. "We expected a crowd about half this size," said stake mission President William D. Johnston, who conducted the meeting. Opening remarks were given by Sister Nancy Murphy, who testified of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and of the doctrine of the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

Brother Murphy focused his remarks on the Book of Mormon, the Savior, the Prophet Joseph Smith and the restoration of the gospel. "Truly [the Book of Mormon] is another testament of Jesus Christ — with over a thousand references to Him," he said.
