Novelist John le Carre has given a stretch of Cornish coastline to the National Trust to keep it "out of the reach of human predators."

The 68-year-old author, whose real name is David Cornwell, bought a cottage on rugged cliffs in southwest England 30 years ago with the proceeds of his book "The Spy Who Came in From the Cold," an early best seller in a string of hit spy novels.
