Oracle chief on trial over beloved yacht

When did Oracle Corp. chief Larry Ellison first fall in love with October Rose?

On the steps of a casino in Monaco, looking down on the harbor. That's when he knew the $10 million, 192-foot yacht was the one.

"It was bathed in light. I felt like I was in a James Bond movie," Ellison told a jury recently in San Jose, Calif., in a trial over the commission on his purchase of the yacht. "I didn't know life could be this cool."

The 55-year-old software tycoon has been accused of bypassing a Florida yacht salesman and a $700,000 commission when he purchased the yacht in 1996.
