Kat Snow and Jenny Brundin of KUER-FM each received the C. Everett Koop Media Award during the American Heart Association's annual meeting for outstanding medical-related programming.

Snow received the award for "best medical health series" while Brundin was honored for "best radio talk show."

New AHA officers were named, including LeeAnne Linderman, senior vice president for Zions Bank, president of the Greater Salt Lake Division. Sandy Havas will lead the Top of Utah Division and Cindy Clark will lead the Washington County Division of the American Heart Association.

Joan Ware, who heads the Cardiovascular Program for the Utah Department of Health, was named Utah Volunteer of the Year.

The American Heart Association spent nearly $327 million last year for research support, public and professional education and community programs. With more than 4 million volunteers, it's the largest voluntary health organization fighting cardiovascular disease and stroke, which each year kill more than 959,000 Americans.
