Lillis Remington Brooks, 76, passed away peacefully at her home in Salt Lake City, July 20, 2000 after battling cancer. She died within days of the tenth anniversary of the death of her husband, George Thomas Brooks, who died in a car accident that left her paralyzed. The accident occurred between Kwekive and Harrare, Zimbabwe.

She was born October 17, 1923 in Napels, Utah to Fuller Rassmussen Remington and Edith Leoma Hadlock Remington. She grew up in Sugarhouse and became an R.N., a profession she loved and pursued throughout her life. She was an active member of the LDS church and served in many capacities.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Newell Christy Remington.

She is survived by her siblings, Earl Joseph Remington, Lois Remington Hirschi, Don Ray Remington, Cleo Remington Atkin, and Ted Fuller Remington. Also survived by her four children, George Remington Brooks (Carolyn), Dean Thomas Brooks (Lorraine), Leslie Brooks Castle (Cy), and Nyman C. Brooks (Shelly), along with 12 grandchildren.

Both she and her family would like to thank the dedicated and caring physicians, medical personnel, and aids who participated in her care over the years. They are especially appreciative for the remarkable professionals of Hospice of IHC. Also, thanks to all the many people who have supported her with letters and visits over the last ten years. You have filled her last years with joy and meaning.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 29, 2000 at the Monument Park Stake Center, 1320 So. Wasatch Dr., Salt Lake City, beginning at 11 a.m. Friends may call from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service and Friday evening, July 28, from 6-8 pm. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
