James S. "Kimo" Poai, 55 of Orem returned to his Father-in-Heaven on Sunday, July 23, 2000.
He was born December 21, 1944 in Honolulu, Hawaii, a son of James and Elizabeth Keoula Phillips Poai. He married Marsha Caldwell on July 22, 1977 in the Provo LDS Temple. Kimo served an LDS mission to the Northern Indian Mission. He was an active member of the LDS Church and held many callings throughout his life such as primary teacher, High Priest Group Leader, counselor in the Sunday School presidency, ward clerk and home teacher.
Kimo had a great love for children. He was a school teacher at Cascade Elementary, and was honored as Teacher of the Year for Alpine School District. He was a gifted musician and lifelong Hawaiian entertainer.
He touched the lives of all who knew him and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Marsha, and their children; Malia, James, and Kathleen, all of Orem.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 27, 2000 at 11 a.m. in the Cherry Hill 6th Ward Chapel, 1650 South 200 East, in Orem. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State St. in Orem, and also one hour prior to the services at the ward chapel. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
