Lillis Remington Brooks, 76, died of cancer at her home, July 20, 2000.
She was born October 17, 1923 in Naples, Utah to Fuller R and Edith L. Hadlock Remington. She grew up in Vernal, UT and graduated from Uintah High School. She received her RN from the LDS Hospital School of Nursing. She also attended BYU and the University of Utah. She married George Thomas Brooks June 22, 1949, in the Salt Lake Temple. She was an active member of the LDS Church and the community. She served on the Legislative Council and the Salt Lake Council of Women. She served with her husband as a missionary for the Church in Kenya, Africa, Coventry, England, and in Zimbabwe, Africa, where her husband was Mission President. Her husband was killed in 1990 in Zimbabwe.
She is survived by her children, G. Remington and Carolyn Brooks, Dean T. and Lorraine Brooks, Leslie and Cy Castle, and Nyman C. and Shelley Brooks; 12 grandchildren; siblings, Earl J. and Karol Remington, Lois R. and Harvey Hirschi, Don R. and Marilyn Remington, Cleo and Lee Atkin, and Ted F. Remington. She is preceded in death by her brother, Newell Christy Remington.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 29, 2000 at the Monument Park Stake Center, 1320 So. Wasatch Dr., Salt Lake City, beginning at 11 a.m., where friends may call from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service and Friday evening, July 28, from 6-8 p.m. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
