WOODBURN, Ore. — The city council here recently awarded the Woodburn 1st Ward, Keizer Oregon Stake, with the "Friend of the Parks" award during National Parks and Recreation Month.
The award, a plaque, was presented at a city council meeting July 10, which was broadcast over the local television station. It was given for the Woodburn 1st Ward's excellence in community service. Parks and Recreation director Randy Westrick said that the Church is an example to the entire community. Beverly Parkhurst, stake public affairs director, received the award and presented it to the ward the following Sunday.
