LAYTON — The Davis County Health Department and Layton City Parks and Recreation are asking residents to take their leftover food with them after eating in the Layton Commons Park, at 400 N. Wasatch Drive.
The elimination of food scraps is an effort to curb the rat problem in the area.
Although the park has had a rat problem for some time, mild winters in the past two years have increased the number of rats in the streams, ponds and along water banks.
The health department says food attracts the rats away from these areas and into the park.
