Virginia Harrison died Friday, July 28, 2000, in St. George, Utah, of a massive heart attack.
Born May 18, 1919, in Minonk, IL to Char-les Rainey Smith and Lenora Camper. Vir-ginia received a Bachelor of Nursing from Methodist Med-ical Center in Illinois. She served in the South Pacific Theater in World War II as a First Lieutenant in The United States Army. Married Von Steele Harrison April 7, 1946, in Los Angeles, CA.
She dedicated her life to her three children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Converted to the LDS faith in 1958, she loved the gospel and served faithfully until her death.
She was the Director of Nursing at the San Gorgonio Pass Memorial Hospital for 20 years, retiring from nursing at LDS Hospital after a heart attack in 1975.
Virginia served a mission for the LDS Church's Family History Center, and for more than 20 years, did genealogical work in the Salt Lake Bonneville Stake Scottish extraction program.
An avid L. A. Dodger fan, the bookmarker for her scriptures was a 45-rpm recording of Sandy Koufax's perfect no-hitter.
Preceded in death by husband, Von Steele Harrison; grandchild, Michelle Harrison; and sister Berniece Smith Guinnee.
Survived by her sister, Elizather (Daniel) Smith Parks, Medina, WA; nieces and nephews, Jan Beehn, Patricia Hafer, James Guinnee, Eliot Parks, Katherine Parks; children, Charles (Lori) Harrison, St. George; Sue (Ed) Trammell, Provo; Thomas (Linda) Harrison, Salt Lake City; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and several devoted friends.
Services will be 12 noon Wed Aug 2, at the Garden Park LDS Ward chapel, 1150 Yale Avenue, Salt Lake City, UT 84105. Viewing held preceding the service 10:30-11:30 a.m. Interment, Valley View Cemetery. Services under the direction of Memorial Estates.
