Lane restrictions on I-80 in S.L. County coming up

SHARE Lane restrictions on I-80 in S.L. County coming up

A segment of I-80 in Salt Lake County will be restricted to two lanes in each direction for the next seven weeks.

The Utah Department of Transportation has imposed the restrictions on I-80 at 2000 East and 2300 East.

Traffic in those areas occasionally will be restricted to one lane in each direction at night, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Also, UDOT will restrict that portion of freeway to one lane in each direction for 24 hours this weekend, from 7 p.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday.

A total of 22 bridges are being repaired this year on I-80 between State Street and Parleys Canyon, Foothill Boulevard above I-80 and I-215, and the ramps connecting I-80 and I-215 near the mouth of the canyon.

The connection between westbound I-80 and southbound I-215 at the mouth of the canyon will be closed Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Crews will close both directions of traffic on the 1300 East bridge above I-80 from 7 p.m. July 15 until 6 a.m. July 17.

Also, UDOT has postponed the installation of a variable message sign in Parleys Canyon.

As a result, eastbound I-80 will not be closed as scheduled Thursday, from the mouth of the canyon to U-65. But on July 13, crews will close westbound I-80 through Parleys Canyon from the mouth of the canyon to U-65.

Motorists should anticipate a variety of other lane restrictions and ramp closures during the next two months.
