Former University of Utah women's basketball star Alli Bills is returning to the U. as an assistant coach, head coach Elaine Elliott has announced. Bills, an assistant coach at BYU last year, will be involved in on-court coaching for the Utes and will also perform numerous administrative duties.

Bills was a part of the most successful four years of women's basketball at Utah, helping the Utes to a 90-27 record and four trips to the NCAA tournament from 1994-98. Utah advanced to the NCAA second round her junior year. Bills, Utah's all-time career assist leader, led the NCAA in assists as a junior and was a first-team all-WAC pick as a senior.

She played professional basketball in Europe after her senior year.

"It is great to have a notable alumna back in our program. She has a ton of energy and enthusiasm and understands the commitment necessary to exceed at this level. She will be an excellent addition to this staff," said Elliott.

Bills will replace former assistant coach Carter Shaw. Shaw has accepted an assistant coaching position with Colorado State University.
