One of my favorite things about the Fourth of July is listening to patriotic music played during the fireworks display. However, this year at the Sandy City celebration, there was none. There was no "Stars and Stripes Forever," no "God Bless America" or "Battle Hymn of the Republic." I was greatly disappointed by the lack of patriotism demonstrated.
It is so sad that Independence Day has become just another reason to party and picnic without giving any thought to the sacrifices made to secure our freedom. We can listen to popular music any time of year, day or night. It's a shame that the radio station that sponsored the music couldn't allow 20 minutes to play the music that celebrates the greatness of our country.
