An Olympic medal and other sporting memorabilia owned by the British sprinter whose deeds inspired the 1981 movie "Chariots of Fire" sold at auction for $12,420.

The collection of Harold Abraham's memorabilia was purchased Thursday by an anonymous private collector, Christie's auction house said. Included was the silver medal won by Abrahams as part of the British relay team at the 1924 Paris Olympics. Abrahams died in 1978.
