Shock 73, Starzz 69
Game 18: Friday night at the Delta Center
Detroit 38 35 — 73
Utah 29 40 — 69
First half: Both teams had nearly a dozen turnovers each as they struggled to find a rhythm. Each team had just one player in double figures. For Utah it was Natalie Williams with 10 points and for the Shock it was Oskana Zakauluzhnaya with 12 points. Detroit shot slightly better than Utah from the perimeter and that made the difference.
Second half: The Starzz got a temporary burst of energy when coach Fred Williams was ejected from the game. The crowd was loud and larger than usual and never gave up as Utah battled back. But the 12-point deficit proved to be too much to overcome as the Starzz fell just short of a win. The last four Detroit point were scored on free throws.
