Landscape architect Susan Crook has joined the Salt Lake City office of Carol R. Johnson Associates, a landscape architecture and environmental planning firm. Crook's design focus is on municipal and private work with an emphasis in sustainable design, reclamation and historic preservation. She currently is working on Edith Bowen School at Utah State University, Sandy City Cemetery, a Riverton city park and several homes in Deer Valley.

Colvin Engineering Associates, a Salt Lake City-based mechanical engineering firm, has made several managerial promotions. Among them: Scott Deakins, who has been with the firm since 1993, has been promoted to the position of senior project manager; and Roger Hamlet, who joined in 1998, has been promoted to senior project manager.

Linux NetworX , a provider of large-scale clustered computer solutions for Internet, industry and research fields, has added new people to its marketing efforts. Abel Keogh has been named technical writer and documentation specialist for the firm. Patrice Duffort has been appointed Web marketing manager.

John Snow has rejoined the law firm of Van Cott, Bagley, Cornwall & McCarthy as a shareholder. He practices general civil litigation involving such things as commercial transactions, construction, natural resources, medical malpractice, employment, products liability and intellectual property.

James Anderson, president of the Bank of Utah in Ogden, has been named to the Pacific Bankers Management Institute board of directors. In this position, he will offer input on the technologies, global economic issues and educational programs affecting the financial services industry. He also will help the institute in marketing efforts in Utah.

Richard Greene has been named President/CEO of the West Valley Taylorsville Kearns Chamber of Commerce. He will manage the chamber's day-to-day operations, special events, membership recruitment and personnel.

There have been some personnel changes at the Salt Lake City law firm of Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll. Jerold Oldroyd has joined the firm as a partner in the business and finance department and will concentrate his practice on telecommunications and government affairs. He oversees the firm's new telecommunications law group. Yvonne Hogle has become an associate in the business and finance department and a member of the new telecommunications law group. She will focus her practice on corporate and regulatory telecommunications law.

The Salt Lake City-based Razor has had some personnel changes. Jared Marcum has joined as a production artist. He will create print advertising and design for the agency's national and local clients. Matt Manfull has joined the agency as art director. He also will develop advertising and marketing design for local and national clients.

Sharlene McFarland has been elected president of the Utah Public Employees Association. A member for 20 years, her charge now is to improve communication, increase membership and foster unity and team work among association members. She works as an administrative assistant at Salt Lake Community College. Jim Tarbet has been elected second vice president of the association. Tarbet, who works as shop foreman for the Box Elder County Roads Department, has been an association member for 17 years. He is working to have a fully funded, 25-year retirement program for all public employees.

The role of MED ONE MARKETING, which is within the company MED ONE CAPITAL, a Utah-based medical leasing company, has undergone some changes. Troy Tait, the director of marketing for MED ONE CAPITAL, will pursue a variety of other accounts for MED ONE MARKETING in addition to his regular duties. Robert Stevens has joined MED ONE as a public relations specialist.

Debra Tanzi has been named the business development manager for Union Pointe Construction in Salt Lake City. She has been in Utah's construction marketing and client development field for five years. Union Pointe owner Doug Anderson also received the platinum award for "Safety in the Workplace" from the Ohio Casualty Group.

John Bowden, the former information systems director at Lifetime Products, Inc., has been named chief information officer. The Clearfield-based firm manufactures residential basketball equipment and blow-molded lawn, garden and office furniture.

AmericaWest Bank has named James Smith, Val Peterson and Brent Haacke as senior officers. The Layton bank was created to meet the needs of small and medium-sized businesses.
