WEST VALLEY CITY — Tammy Kikuchi Nakamura has been named the new director of community and government relations for West Valley City.
Her appointment ends a two-month search that attracted more than 50 applicants from Utah and surrounding states.
Nakamura replaces Ted Nguyen who left to work for Salt Lake City in May.
The West Valley City Community and Government Relations Division is responsible for volunteer services, neighborhood programs and public information.
The staff of four is involved in handling the city's media relations, public awareness campaigns and coordinating neighborhood crime prevention activities.
Nakamura comes to West Valley City after seven years at The Economic Development Corp. of Utah. Prior to that she spent 12 years anchoring and reporting news at KSL radio and television.
She will assume her responsibilities on July 17.
