Karl Malone will not face criminal charges for a May 5 incident in which he fell on a fan from Seattle while trying to keep a basketball in play.
Salt Lake City prosecutors decided Monday not to file any charges against the Utah Jazz forward after watching videotapes of the game.
"We didn't see a violation," said Salt Lake City prosecutor Simarjit Gill.
"We watched a tape (of the incident) from three different angles and didn't see anything that would be a basis for criminal charges."
Gill and two other city prosecutors made the decision along with Salt Lake City police detectives. Randall Call, Malone's attorney, hadn't heard about the decision and didn't have any comment.
Seattle resident Brina Sanft filed a police report three months after the event saying Malone punched her in the head and chest. She has hired her own attorney, who plans to contact Malone directly.
Sanft said in the police report that she still suffers from the injuries she sustained and is still being treated by a doctor.
