Hogle Zoo will celebrate "Twins Day" and Kali the Asian elephant's 55th birthday Saturday, Aug. 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the zoo.

Members of the Salt Lake Chapter of the Mothers of Twins Club will receive $1 off regular zoo admission with their membership card. A "twins parade" will begin at noon next to the train depot. Prizes will be awarded.

Following the parade, zoo visitors will sing "Happy Birthday" to Kali and watch as she enjoys a gigantic birthday surprise, which will include huge blocks of frozen fruit and vegetables, topped off by a large 55 made out of bread — all her favorite treats. Kali is the oldest resident of the zoo, having lived at the animal park since 1954.

Regular zoo admission prices are $6 for those ages 13 to 64; $4 for senior citizens ages 65 and older and children ages 3 through 12. Children ages 2 and younger are admitted free.
