South Weber City is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to recovery of six police radios and the arrest of whoever took them.
Davis County Sheriff's Lt. Kenny Payne said the brand-new radios were stolen Aug. 1 from the city maintenance shop. They were scheduled to be put into all of the city's fire trucks. He said the radios were not programmed yet, so he doesn't believe anyone would have use for them. It takes special software, according to Payne, to program the radios.
If they were working, Payne said they would have all the radio channels for police and fire agencies in Davis, Salt Lake and Weber counties.
Payne said investigators are "looking at a few people" but have not charged anyone.
