Howard Eisley, John Stockton's main backup with the Utah Jazz the past five seasons, will become a Dallas Maverick, according to a Dallas Morning News report in Friday's editions.
Eisley is expected to sign a one-year deal with a second-year option for the $2.25 million salary cap exception.
Last season Eisley averaged 8.6 points and 4.2 assists in 25.6 minutes per game for the Jazz. He is expected to compete with Steve Nash for the Mavericks' staring point guard position.
"Steve and Howard will compete for the starting spot, and both will play lots of minutes," Mavericks owner Mark Cuban told the Dallas Morning News.
