LOGAN-- Blaine Bolton Rich, 72, Logan, Utah passed away Friday August 11, 2000.
Born May 10, 1928 in St. Charles, ID a son of Orson Stock Rich and Alice Bolton Rich. Married Janet Rogers Nov. 28, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He grew up in St. Charles and graduated from Fielding High School in Paris, ID. Blaine served an LDS mis-sion in the New England States Mis-sion and served in the Army during the Korean War. He graduated from Utah State University in Business Administration and while pursuing a Masters degree in Economics, worked for the USU Research Foundation. Following graduation, he accepted employment with Thiokol Chemical Corporation Wasatch Division. He was the founder and general manager of Thiokol Chemical Corporations Logan Division and oversaw the operations in Idaho Falls, Zurich, Switzerland, and Logan.
Blaine owned and operated Interstate Industries for several years before accepting a position as general manager of Cache Valley Dairy Association. He also served as Vice President and later Chief Executive Officer of Intermountain Milk Producers, the successor of Cache Valley Diary Association. Blaine served as a member of the board of the National Dairy Association and was listed in World Who's Who in Business and Commerce. He was also involved in many various business interests including the operation of a family ranch in Bear Lake where he and his wife eventually retired. He served on the board of directors of the Cache Valley Chamber of Commerce and served with various other community and charitable organizations. Blaine was an active member of the LDS Church serving in various positions including High Councilor, Bishop, and President of the Smithfield Utah Stake.
Survivors include his wife, Janet, Logan; children and their spouses, Brett and Shauna Rich, Springville, UT, Wendy and Tevita Fonua, Smithfield, Julie and Keith Ramsey, Littleton, CO, Brad and Pam Rich, St. George, UT, Brian and Amy Rich, Green Bay, WI; 22 grandchildren; and brothers, Sterling Rich, St. Charles, ID, Lowell Rich, Ashton, ID, Glenn Rich, St. Charles, ID. Preceded in death by three sisters; two brothers; and one grandson, Tyson.
Services will be 12 noon Tues. Aug 15, in the Smithfield Stake Center, 600 E. 120 S, with Bishop Dale Hansen conducting. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Mon. at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 S. Main, Smithfield and 10:30-11:30 a.m. Tues. at the church. Burial, Smithfield City Cemetery.
