Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Dayne Holt Howard, 69, passed away Aug. 13, 2000 of an aortic aneurism, at the University Medical Center in Las Vegas, NV. His loving wife, Helen Mae Howard, all seven of his children and their spouses, brother sand sisters, many of his grandchildren and close friends were by his side.

Born June 30, 1931 to William Don and Lovella Holt Howard in Enterprise, UT.

Dayne was a firefighter with the city of North Las Vegas for 22 years. During his career he was a builder and developer as well as a landscaping business owner. He also worked in law enforcement for several years and served on the city council in Ivins, Utah.

Dayne was an active member of the LDS Church, holding many positions. He enjoyed being with his family, writing poetry, woodworking, teaching, traveling, camping and going pine nut hunting annually. He was a member of the Goldwing Association and made many trips across the U.S.

He was also a great cook and had a very green thumb. He planted his trees as he did his children; he never gave up on them. Dayne's wisdom and love will sorely be missed.

Survived by his devoted wife of fifty years, Helen Howard; children and their spouses, Richard and Karla Wedig, Dr. David and Cindy Howard; Gordon and Kathi Gunn; Kim Howard; 31 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Afton Bluemel, Wilma Potter, Cherie Heaton, Matt Howard, and Jim Howard.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000 at the LDS Stake Center, 88 South Center Street, Enterprise, Utah. Friends and family may call 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Metcalf Mortuary, 300 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah, or 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Enterprise prior to services.

The family would like to thank the staff at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, Utah, and University Medical Center in Las Vegas, NV. for their very special care to Dayne and for their kindness to the family.
