Hole of the week: Entrada at Snow Canyon, #16

SHARE Hole of the week: Entrada at Snow Canyon, #16

Layout: A long dogleg left and right is named "No way out" and it couldn't have been named better. With black lava rock on each side of the fairway and a shallow, thin green guarded by bunkers and lava, par is a good score.

Short and sweet

The Johnny Miller designed course measures 7,262 yards from the black tees. The signature holes (15, 16, 17) are are lined with black lava rock.

Professionally speaking

"It's a reward-risk hole. You can go for it and make birdie or hit it in the lava and be toast."— Steve Sharp, GM, Director of Golf

Tee to green

Off the tee: The prudent play would be to hit a club you hit 200 yards, but the chances of making birdie are slim. If you hit drive you must cut the left corner to give yourself a look at the green. Anything to the right would leave a blind second shot.

Second shot: If you lay up use a club that will leave you 100-125 yards left to the green. If you go for the green on your second shot hit a club you can hit high so it will stop on the green that is guarded by bunkers in front and back.

On the green: Like most Johnny Miller greens make sure you get your ball on the right level. Pay attention to the daily designated pin placements. If not, you have a putt with a lot of break.
