Four BYU seniors have been elected by their teammates as team captains for the 2000 football season, coach LaVell Edwards announced Tuesday.

Defensive end Setema Gali and safety Jared Lee are the defensive captains while receiver Margin Hooks and fullback Kalani Sitake are the offensive captains.

"Every year the team elects two defensive and two offensive captains," Edwards said. "As in the past, the players have again this year selected four outstanding individuals to serve as team captains. All four guys are seniors and have great leadership abilities, both on and off the field. I know the players really look up to these guys."

Two-a-days continue this week for BYU, which opens the season Aug. 26 in the Pigskin Classic at Jacksonville, Fla., against defending national champion Florida State.
