Toyota Motor Corp.'s Lexus luxury division said has raised the U.S. price for the 2001-model GS mid-luxury sedan by $1,050, to $47,355.
On a comparably equipped basis, the increase is 0.3 percent over the previous model, Lexus said. The price does not include a delivery charge of $545 per car.
The 2001 model of the GS sedan will be designated the GS 430 and will replace the GS 400. It will be equipped with a new 4.3-liter, 300-horsepower V-8 engine and will have a revised exterior and a standard side curtain supplemental restraint system for the front-seat passengers, Lexus said.
The new engine meets the U.S. federal Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle certification and uses no more fuel than the smaller-displacement engine it replaces, Lexus said.
