Siosaia Tava Meli, age 64, passed away July 26, 2000 in Nuku 'Alofa, Tonga.
Siosaia was born Nov. 2, 1935 in Nuku 'Alofa to Mikaela and Sisilia Finau Meli. He married Luseane Nau Tu'ikolongahau in Nuku 'Alofa. He was a member of the LDS Church. Siosaia, a carpenter by trade, played an active role in building many homes throughout the Salt Lake Valley. His skills in woodwork opened opportun-ities to remodel several LDS Chapels, which led to participating in the installment of the oval windows of the Salt Lake LDS Temple. And also the completion of the finish work in the Celestial room of the Oakland LDS Temple.
Siosaia returned home to the islands of Tonga to fulfill his lifetime dream of building his family home. Upon completion of his home, on the eve of the dedicatory blessing and open house, Siosaia Tava Meli passed away of a heart attack.
Siosaia is survived by his wife, Luseane Meli; daughters, Milika, Siu, Eni, Sinama and Makeleta; son, Maikolo and 14 grand-
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 5, 2000 at 10 a.m. at the Taylorsville 4th Ward, 4310 South 3200 West. The family will receive friends at a viewing Friday, August 4th from 6-11 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
