Auditions have been scheduled for three upcoming productions.
LDS ACTORS AND VOCALISTS are invited to audition for a new musical to be produced by the LDS Church and presented in the soon-to-be-completed theater adjacent to the Conference Center.
All auditions will be by appointment only, 5-10 p.m. on Aug. 30 & 31 and Sept. 1, in the Bountiful Regional Center, 835 N. 400 East, North Salt Lake, just off the I-15 exit No. 318 at Woods Cross.
LDS Church members wishing to audition should call 240-7600 to schedule an appointment.
Those auditioning should come prepared to perform up to 16 bars from two contrasting musical-theater songs. An accompanist will be provided. There will also be cold readings from the script.
The original musical requires a large cast. Performers of all ages with ample stage experience are needed for leading, supporting and ensemble roles. Families with children who are at least 8 years old are invited to audition together.
Rehearsals will be held from September through mid-November, after which performances will continue through December.
All those auditioning should also bring a current photograph and resume.
THE SPRINGVILLE PLAYHOUSE will hold auditions on Aug. 25 from 7 to 8 p.m., and Aug. 26 from 11 a.m. until noon for its fall production of Cole Porter's "High Society," scheduled to run Nov. 3-13.
Jay Knight is directing the show, which requires three female and five male adults, one girl (8 to 14 years of age), and an adult mixed quartet. Come prepared to sing a song and bring your own accompanist. A piano and tape player will be available.
The auditions will be at the playhouse, located on the lower level of the Springville Civic Center, 50 S. Main (beneath the library). Rehearsals will begin immediately following the casting.
DESERT STAR PLAYHOUSE is holding auditions on Aug. 31 from 5 to 7 p.m. for "Hexed Files — The Spoof is Out There!"
Scott Holman will direct the show, which marks DSP's grand reopening of its newly remodeled facilities, 4861 S. State.
Come prepared to sing a song of your own choice (an accompanist will be provided) and have a comic monologue memorized. If you do not have a monologue prepared, one can be picked up at the box office, but it should be memorized for the audition.
Those auditioning must be 18 years of age or over. Please bring a current resume and photograph. All performers will be paid.
Play dates are Sept. 21-Nov. 11. Rehearsals will begin Sept. 1.
