BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON — Salt Lake County Sheriff's Search and Rescue crews spent much of Saturday afternoon trying to rescue a 13-year-old boy from a mountain after he fell 80 feet.
Cortlund Van Gorder, Murray, suffered minor head injuries and was airlifted to Primary Children's Medical Center, said sheriff's Sgt. Lane Larkin.
The boy was on the trail to Twin Peaks, about two miles below the peaks, when he slipped and fell at 3 p.m. It took until 7 p.m. for search and rescue workers to get to him because he landed on a steep part of the mountain.
