Our extra-ordinary husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on August 16, 2000 after a week long struggle with an over-whelming infection that invaded his healthy body.
He was born December 20, 1916 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Melvin C. and Margaret Adamson Overly. He grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from West High. He served his country in World War II and married his sweetheart Adell Poulsen in the Salt Lake Temple on June 20, 1947. Worked for Carbon County Railway and Union Pacific Railroad. Retired in 1978.
Bill's life was centered around the gospel, his family, his love of music and service to others. He had many church callings through his life, his favorites having to do with dance and music. For forty years he was the music or choir director in his ward and was noted for his Christmas programs and special musical numbers. He and his wife served for 18 months in the England Manchester Mission and he continued to be a faithful home-teacher and did temple work weekly.
Survived by his wife, Adell; and five daughters: Anita (Larry) Quibell, Bonnie (Gregory) Miller, Julene (Larry) Maddocks, Marge (Russell) Dalton, and Linda; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Wilson. Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Andrew.
